Updated 2018 Ford Mustang Offers Improved Performance

Ford recently debuted the new 2018 Mustang, which features a number of visual changes, new technology and improved performance. New front and rear end designs give the 2018 Ford Mustang a leaner and meaner look with improved aerodynamics, and the all-new, available 10-speed automatic transmission offers more performance, especially when combined with the available MagneRide suspension.

Mustang owners are getting more ways to customize their Mustang, with a new 12-inch all-digital instrument cluster and a MyMode memory function that remembers your driving preferences for the next time you drive. The MagneRide suspension allows for adjusting of the handling characteristics, and an optional active valve exhaust on the Mustang GT lets you decide if you want to let the engine roar or not.

The 2018 Ford Mustang is receiving a number of driver-assist features for the first time, including Pre-Collision Assist with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist. Ford SYNC Connect with FordPass is also available for 2018, giving owners the ability to start, lock, unlock and locate their vehicle using the FordPass app on their smartphone.

The 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine remains a great choice for those who want power and efficiency, with better performance than the outgoing 3.7-liter V6 engine. The 5.0-liter V8 has been updated with Ford’s new dual-fuel, high-pressure direct injection and low-pressure port fuel injection, offering plenty of low-end torque, high-revving power and improved fuel efficiency.

For drivers who opt for the manual transmission in the Mustang GT, it has been redesigned with a new twin-disc clutch and dual-mass flywheel to increase torque capability and provide more efficient clutch modulation. The new 10-speed automatic transmission shifts faster, is more responsive and includes unique tunes for different drive modes, as well as steering wheel-mounted shift paddles.
