Texas Is Family Event Held by Ford and Nonprofit Partners
Ford reinforced its commitment to Houston and the entire state of Texas with the Texas Is Family event. Local nonprofits Ford has been working with since Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts started in August last year were brought together at this special event.
In an effort to provide ongoing relief, Ford donated 38 vehicles to eight organizations in the state of Texas which will be used for a variety of services. Vehicles will be used for delivering food, mental health and medical services, as well as delivering other needed supplies. Some donated vehicles will also be used as first responder vehicles in future emergencies.
Nonprofits that participated in the Texas Is Family event include the Houston Food Bank, The Salvation Army, the American Red Cross and First Book, which provides books and supplies for teachers.
“We want to thank all of our employees, dealers and nonprofit partners who stepped up when the people of Houston needed them most,” said Jim Vella, president of Ford Fund. “As another hurricane season approaches, we stand strong in our pledge to continue to help families and communities get back on their feet.”
Ford has also offered a Texas Is Family assistance bundle to more than 8,000 customers who lost their vehicles in Hurricane Harvey. The bundle includes no-haggle Ford employee pricing, payment deferrals and an extra $1,000 discount for first responders from hurricane-affected areas.
