Take On Any Trail in the All-New 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor
Ford has redesigned the 2017 F-150 Raptor from the ground up, making it more capable than ever no matter the terrain. The new, powerful twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine and advanced four-wheel drive system work together to give drivers excellent traction both on- and off-road.
Six unique terrain modes are selectable in the 2017 Raptor, each designed for a specific set of driving conditions. Normal mode provides a good balance of comfort, power and fun for everyday driving. Sport mode increases throttle response, speeds up gear shifts and provides a sportier steering feel for more spirited driving.
Weather mode is the go-to choice when road conditions turn poor. This mode automatically engages four-wheel drive, and the AdvanceTrac traction control, throttle response and shift points are optimized for low-traction conditions.
Mud/Sand mode was made for the toughest trails and gives drivers confidence to navigate virtually any obstacle. The electronic locking differential is automatically engaged, 4 High is selected, AdvanceTrac is optimized for loose or soft ground and the steering is set to comfort for easier navigation on tight trails.
Baja mode is designed for high-speed desert running. Maintaining speed and traction are the most important factors in these conditions. The Raptor is placed in 4 High, the traction control is programmed to be less intrusive and the throttle map and shift points are changed to keep the F-150 Raptor in its power band.
Rock Crawl mode is setup for off-road driving and rock climbing at low speeds. This mode switches to 4 Low, the electronic locking differential is engaged, the traction control and transmission are optimized for better control and the front camera is turned on to allow for improved visibility at speeds up to 15 mph.
