New 2017 Ford Escape Wins Cars.com SUV Challenge
Ford has updated the Ford Escape for the 2017 model year, and the experts at Cars.com put it to the test in their annual Compact SUV Challenge. The Escape beat the competition and came in first place thanks to its refinement, EcoBoost engine technology and abundance of tech features, besting SUVs from Honda, Toyota, Kia and Hyundai.
The judges were impressed with the Escape’s sportier driving dynamics that don’t compromise ride quality or comfort. The Escape was also one of the quietest vehicles in its class, giving the impression you are driving a much more expensive SUV.
When it comes to in-car technology, Ford continues to lead the way with its infotainment systems, especially with the release of SYNC 3. It was praised for its clean interface design, ease of use and excellent smartphone integration. The Escape is also one of the only vehicles in its class to feature Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Optional 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter EcoBoost engines offer impressive horsepower and fuel economy ratings at up to 30 mpg on the highway. The EcoBoost engines also feature Auto Start-Stop technology to save you fuel when the engine would typically be idling, such as at a stop light.
Available Intelligent Four-Wheel Drive continuously monitors traction and road conditions, and can transfer torque from the front to the rear wheels to prevent loss of traction. When equipped with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine and Class II Tow Package, the 2017 Ford Escape can pull up to 3,500 lbs. as well.
