Ford F-150 Named a Top Green Vehicle in 2017 AAA Green Car Guide
The Ford F-150 was named a Top Green Vehicle in the pickup category by AAA in their 2017 Green Car Guide thanks to its best-in-class gas fuel economy, excellent handling, great visibility and spacious interior. The available 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 allows the F-150 4×2 to achieve an EPA rating of 19 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.
“Many drivers need the flexibility of a larger vehicle, but still want to make a green choice,” said Megan McKernan of the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Automotive Research Center. The F-150 was praised for its excellent fuel efficiency without having to sacrifice space or utility.
Even through gas prices are 40 percent lower compared to five years ago, customers are still highly interested in purchasing fuel-efficient vehicles. Fuel efficiency continues to be one of the top purchase considerations of Americans, with 70 percent rating it an important factor in a survey done by AAA.
Ford has continued to introduce new fuel-saving technologies in the F-150, including lightweight military-grade aluminum-alloy used in the body, EcoBoost V6 engine options and an all-new 10-speed automatic transmission with standard Auto Start-Stop technology.
The F-150 has also been named a best truck value by Kelley Blue Book and earned the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy Greener Choice award. It is easy to see why the Ford F-150 has remained the bestselling truck in the U.S. for the past 40 years.
