Ford F-150 and Explorer Honored at Annual Texas Truck Rodeo
Ford was honored with multiple awards at this year’s Texas Auto Writers Association annual Texas Truck Rodeo, including Truck Line of Texas for the F-Series, SUV of Texas for the Explorer and Best Technology for its Pro Trailer Backup Assist system.
Nearly 70 TAWA journalists took part in this year’s Texas Truck Rodeo, and more vehicles and technologies were tested than ever before. Held at the Knibbe Ranch north of San Antonio, every truck and SUV was put through a series of tough tests, including an intense off-road track.
The bestselling new F-150 and Super Duty pickup trucks are the most capable and advanced F-Series trucks Ford has ever built, and continue to be the sales leader in Texas. The F-Series has also been the bestselling truck in the country for 38 years and the bestselling vehicle overall for the past 33 years. An impressive list of features and technology made the F-Series line an easy choice for Truck Line of Texas.
The 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum beat out many competitors to win SUV of Texas, thanks in part to its powerful 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, advanced safety technology and excellent driving experience. The Explorer Platinum features distinctive luxury features like quilted leather seats, 20-inch alloy wheels, a hands-free power liftgate and signature LED lighting.
Pro Trailer Backup Assist technology available on the 2016 F-150 was honored with the Best Technology award at this year’s event. This new technology makes it easy for both novices and trailering experts to back up a trailer by simply turning a knob on the truck’s dashboard.
