Five Ford & Lincoln Vehicles Receive Top Honors in J.D. Power Study
Ford Motor Company ranked No. 2 across all automakers for the second straight year in the annual J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. Ford also earned its best overall score in the report’s 32-year history for 2018. Five Ford and Lincoln vehicles earned segment awards for initial quality, more than any other automaker.
Part of Ford’s success comes from steadily improving the quality of its audio, connectivity, entertainment and navigation technology with SYNC 3. The latest system has earned praise for its ease of use, and is available on nearly Ford and Lincoln vehicle. SYNC 3 continues to be improved with every new update, which often adds new features.
“Customers want a vehicle that keeps them connected whether they’re going places or just out enjoying a drive,” said Jim VanSlambrouck, Ford’s Director of Quality for The Americas. “Our improving quality scores show we are delivering smart vehicles for a smart world that are also easy to use.”
Ford has also improved in other areas in recent years, including categories like exterior quality, seating, driving experience, feature control displays, interior and air conditioning. Nine vehicles were in the top three for their respective segments, and five models received top honors: Ford Expedition, Ford Mustang, Ford Super Duty, Lincoln Continental and Lincoln MKC.
The number of problems per 100 vehicles has been reduced compared to last year, and at a rate faster than the industry average. The Lincoln brand moved up to third place among all premium vehicle brands.
