New 2018 Ford F-150 Wins TAWA Truck of Texas Award
The new 2018 Ford F-150 was presented with the Truck of Texas award for the 14th year in the annual Texas Auto Writers Association Texas Truck Rodeo. The Ford F-Series Super Duty won the Truck of Texas award last year, and the impressive F-150 Raptor was named this year’s Off-Road Pickup Truck winner.
Over 70 TAWA journalists tested this year’s group of pickup trucks on- and off-road over a two day period, totaling more than 300 hours of driving time. This year’s judges were impressed by the 2018 Ford F-150’s updated EcoBoost engines and 10-speed automatic transmissions, as well as the excellent off-road performance of the new 2018 Raptor.
“With the new 2018 F-150, we’re honored to earn back-to-back Truck of Texas awards for F-Series, a recognition that speaks to the truck team’s dedication to our hardworking customers,” said Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president and president of North America. “That’s especially true in Texas – truck capital of the world.”
The 2018 Ford F-150 features updated powertrains across the entire range of pickups. All engines now include Auto Start-Stop technology for improved fuel economy, and have automatic transmissions with selectable drive modes, especially useful when towing or hauling heavy loads.
Ford now offers a number of premium features on the 2018 F-150, including an all-new B&O Play premium audio system, Wi-Fi hotspot, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality and Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection.
