2017 Ford F-150 EcoBoost Lineup Receives Auto Start-Stop Tech
Ford will be adding fuel-saving Auto Start-Stop technology to the entire Ford F-150 EcoBoost lineup for the 2017 model year, including the all-new, off-road ready F-150 Raptor. This technology, which is already in use in many other Ford EcoBoost-powered vehicles, will help F-150 owners save even more money at the pump.
Engineers at Ford have specially tuned the Auto Start-Stop system for the F-150, making sure it fits into how truck owners use their vehicles. When the truck is at a stop the engine will shut off to conserve fuel, then immediately turn back on when the brake pedal is released. When towing or in four-wheel drive mode, the Auto Start-Stop system stays off and the engine will continue to run when the vehicle is stopped.
2016 Ford F-150 models with the 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine currently come equipped with Auto Start-Stop technology. The 3.5-liter EcoBoost and new high-output version of that engine in the F-150 Raptor will also feature the technology when 2017 models arrive later this year. EcoBoost-powered models are estimated to represent more than 60 percent of the F-150 lineup in 2017.
The 2016 Ford F-150 already has best-in-class towing, payload and EPA-estimated gas mileage, and Auto Start-Stop will improve EcoBoost fuel efficiency even further and reduce CO2 emissions by decreasing idle times. Ford has also ensured the engine restarts will be smooth and refined, thanks to their expertise in hybrid vehicle technology.
The Ford F-150 EcoBoost lineup joins several other Ford models which currently have Auto Start-Stop technology, including the Focus 1.0-liter, Fusion 1.5-liter, Edge 2.0-liter twin-scroll and 2017 Escape with either the 1.5-liter or 2.0-liter twin-scroll EcoBoost engines.
