2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Uses New 450 Horsepower EcoBoost V6
Fans of the highly anticipated all-new 2017 F-150 Raptor have been waiting for Ford to unveil the horsepower and torque ratings for the all-new EcoBoost engine being used in the Raptor. Ford finally revealed the power figures, and the all-new 3.5-liter twin-turbo high-output EcoBoost engine produces an impressive 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque across a wide power band for great performance at any speed.
When combined with a substantial 500 pound weight loss compared to the last generation Raptor and a new Ford-built 10-speed transmission, the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor will deliver better performance than ever before, as well as a 23 percent improvement in EPA-rated combined fuel economy.
A new dual-mode transfer case delivers on-demand all-wheel drive capability regardless of road conditions, with the capability to switch between a clutch-driven system and a durable, mechanically-locked system for more severe off-road environments. The Terrain Management System is unique to the Raptor and gives a variety of options for different road surfaces and weather conditions, including a Baja Mode.
With a base price of under $50,000, the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is in a class of its own when it comes to capability for the money. More performance car buyers are turning to Ford this year as its performance car lineup continues to grow with the introduction of vehicles like the Focus RS and Shelby GT350. This year Ford will sell more than 200,000 performance cars globally, nearly double the volume compared to three years ago.
