2015 Ford Transit picked by Charter – Dallas, TX
The 2015 Ford Transit full-size van is finally here, replacing America’s bestselling van for the past 35 years, the Ford E-Series. The original Ford Transit debuted in 1965, just four years after the Econoline, and has been the best-selling commercial van in the UK for the last 49 years.
Now the United States will join the other 118 countries that currently have the Transit. Ford was excited last week to announce their first large fleet order for the new van, with Charter Communications ordering more than 800 Transits. All models are low-roof, regular-wheelbase models with the standard 3.7 liter V6.
Charter picked the Transit over the other new offerings from RAM and Mercedes-Benz due to its easy maneuverability and excellent fuel economy. Cargo space and easy upfitting were also factors, as Charter’s equipment installer Auto Truck is located near the Transit manufacturing facility.
The drivers will be using the vans to install and service internet, TV and phone services for its customers across 29 states. The new vans will give Charter’s drivers more cargo space and more comfort, with the Transit’s front MacPherson struts with stabilizer and progressive-rate rear leaf springs. The Transit is able to have a well-controlled ride, no matter how much is loaded.
The 2015 Transit is also starting to show up at Ford dealerships across the country, such as Five Star Ford of Plano in Texas. The Ford Transit is available in a variety of roof heights and wheelbase lengths, and can be ordered with a variety of powerful and fuel efficient gas and diesel engines.
